Welcome to our first blog on the new website. This is also a chance for us to share our new logo and brand identity with you. Times haven’t always been easy but we are still here making the business case for recruiting people with convictions.
We are now in our 12th year, and although many things have changed since we set up (mainly a lot less funding) we have continued to help thousands of individuals use their skills and ambitions to gain good quality employment. And just as importantly, support some wonderful employers that are recruiting people with convictions to fill their skills and labour gaps and hiring brilliant employees.
But, we have been so busy doing the actual ‘work’ that our website and branding got a bit abandoned so we decided it was time to give it some TLC.
Our Women's Work
Our work with women continues to grow. We have recently received some funding from The National Lottery Community Fund so we can continue to support women prison leavers returning to London, more details on that coming soon. We also have some very exciting news about a new Women’s initiative which we hope to share in the next few weeks. Watch this space!
In the News
Whilst our business depends on working with people with convictions, to secure good work and supporting employers that are recruiting people with convictionswe wholeheartedly welcome the recent changes to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. We recently spoke to a grandmother, in a fantastic job, but with a very old sentence. As it was for more than four years, they were still classed as an “ex-offender”. Not anymore. It is encouraging to know, that for the vast majority of people, their offence will eventually become spent. Whats next?
We have lots of exciting projects coming up in 2024 and we are also making a promise to share more of what we do with you. So watch out for regular blog posts, updates and lots of good news stories.
